‘Most wanted’ British man arrested in Spain accused of cocaine importation

  • UK law enforcement, including the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Crimestoppers, named 12 of the country's most wanted individuals believed to be hiding in Spain.
  • Hours after the appeal, Simon Dutton, 49, wanted for organising large-scale cocaine importation and money laundering, was arrested in La Nucia, near Benidorm, and is now in Spanish custody.
  • The appeal is part of Operation Captura, which in its 20th year has led to the arrest of 98 out of 111 most wanted offenders and suspects in Spain through 11 public appeals.
  • NCA officials highlighted that criminals often blend into British expatriate communities in Spain, continuing to offend against both local and UK victims.
  • The public, particularly British expatriates and holidaymakers in Spain, are urged to review the most wanted list and provide anonymous information to Crimestoppers if they recognise anyone.
