'Most Spurs game ever!' - Tottenham fans left sweating after Antonio Conte's men beat Vitesse

Antonio Conte's first game as Tottenham Hotspur head coach was eventful, to say the least.

Conte was announced as Spurs' new manager on Tuesday afternoon, succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo, who had been relieved of his duties 24 hours prior.

The former Wolves boss lost five of his ten Premier League games before a 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester United last weekend appeared to be the final straw for Managing Director Fabio Paratici.

Conte's first game in the managerial dugout was in the UEFA Europa Conference League against Vitesse, with the Lillywhites earning a 3-2 victory that had plenty of ups and downs.

South Korean frontman Son Heung-Min netted the opener after a quarter of an hour before Lucas Moura doubled their advantage eight minutes later.

Spurs then went three goals to the good thanks to an own goal from Vitesse defender Jacob Rasmussen, who then grabbed a goal back for the Dutch side, who made it 3-2 on the cusp of half-time through Slovakian midfielder Matus Bero.

The north Londoners then began to sweat after summer signing Cristian Romero was sent off just before the hour mark, garnering a second yellow card to leave Conte's side a man down in N17.

However, the Lillywhites held on whilst Vitesse earned two red cards of their own in the last ten minutes, earning the veteran Italian coach a win in his first game with the Lillywhites.

Tottenham supporters took to social media to admit their confusion at the hectic affair. Here is how a select few on Twitter reacted.

@Manu23588 : "This is the most spurs game I've ever seen."
