Most popular Disney inspired baby names as Molly-Mae calls daughter Bambi

Love Island stars Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have named their first child Bambi. They are following in the footsteps of many new parents who have picked a Disney-inspired moniker for their children.

However Bambi is far from being the most popular choice. Bambi was the 4,634th most popular girl's name in the UK for newborns according to the latest ONS data, with four babies registered with the same name in 2021.

Children's toy retailer, The Kid Collective, analysed the figures to look at the most popular Disney names for babies in the UK. It reveals that Alice is the most popular, with Aurora, Jasmine and Anna also in the top 100.

For baby boys, Sebastian was the most popular out of Disney names. It was followed by Louis and Felix.

Founder of The Kid Collective, Laura Davies, said: “It’s so interesting to see how even the classic Disney films are influencing people’s decisions on what they call their baby. I think it’s a great way to find unique and lesser-known baby names, as I can understand how difficult it is sometimes to choose a name for your baby - it’s a big deal!

"I also like the idea that these babies will grow up to know that their name is based on their parents' favourite films and characters, and perhaps they’ll go on to love the latest adaptations just like their parents too. It will be intriguing to see the next round of ONS data to see if ‘Bambi’ is appearing more frequently."
