With so much uncertainty surrounding travelling abroad, it’s no surprise thousands of Brits are planning on staying in the country for their holidays this year.
Internet searches have shown sharp increases in the amount of people searching for overnight accommodation as the trend for a staycation gathers pace.
Holiday cost comparison site My Late Deals surveyed 1,500 people to reveal the UK’s favourite staycation destinations and the most commonly mentioned places in each county.
Participants were asked their favourite places to stay for a UK break.

Most commonly mentioned places in each county
Cornwall
St Ives is the most frequently searched resort in Cornwall, followed by Padstow, Newquay and the Isles of Scilly.
Devon
Torquay is the most commonly named destination in Devon, followed by Woolacombe, and Plymouth.
Cumbria
The Lake District is most frequently searched destination in Cumbria.
Dorset
Weymouth is the most commonly named destination in Dorset, followed by Bournemouth, Poole and Swanage.
Lancashire
Blackpool is the most frequently searched destination followed by Morecambe.
Pembrokeshire
Tenby is the most commonly named destination in Pembrokeshire.
North Yorkshire
York is the most frequently searched destination, followed by Scarborough and Whitby.
City of London
Unsurprisingly London was a common choice.
Northumberland
Newcastle is the most commonly named destination in the region.
East Sussex
Brighton is most frequently searched followed by Eastbourne.
