The results are in for the most popular celebrity moustaches of the year and there are some surprises.
A new study has revealed which famous facial hair people most admire, with results spanning Hollywood, sport and pop culture.
The findings coincide with Movember, when many grow moustaches to raise funds and awareness for men’s health causes, and it seems plenty are turning to celebrities for inspiration.
According to research by Spin Genie, which analysed Google search data, topping the list is Henry Cavill, whose upper lip styling generated 147,800 searches across the UK, US and Canada.
Cavill originally grew the moustache for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, but filming delays forced him to keep it far longer than expected. A later CGI attempt to remove it for Justice League only boosted its notoriety, turning it into one of the most talked-about facial hair moments in recent Hollywood history.
In second place is TV icon Tom Selleck, whose thick, neatly sculpted Magnum P.I. moustache continues to capture imaginations, drawing more than 60,000 searches this year.
NFL star Travis Kelce, who this year got engaged to pop superstar Taylor Swift in a moment that became the most-liked Instagram post in history, ranks third with almost 40,000 searches.
The tight-end is know for his annual ritual of growing a moustache at training camp and sticking with it throughout the football season. He has previously described the look as a superstition, and it has become as recognisable as his performances on the field.
The rest of the top 10 combines long-standing screen favourites with younger stars. Sam Elliott and Miles Teller remain popular choices linked to their film roles, while Brad Pitt and Chris Evans still draw curiosity when they switch up their looks.
Musicians Benson Boone and Harry Styles round out the final two spots. For former One Direction star Styles, it is arguably the lowest he has ever featured on any kind of hot list, but even a fleeting moustache phase was enough to send fans searching.
