A majority of people are satisfied with both the outcome and the conduct of the March 24 election results, according to the result an opinion survey by the National Institute of Development Administration, or Nida Poll.
Asked how satisfied they were with the election results, based on their votes for their chosen candidate, a majority, 25.72% of them were highly satisfied and 43.15% fairly satisfied, 20.47% said they were a little dissatisfied and 10.07% were not satisfied at all, while 0.59% were uncertain or had no comment.
Asked whether they thought the election was clean and fair, 7.02% said yes, absolutely; 18.95% said yes, to a high degree; and 38.16% yes, to a moderate degree. Of the rest, 14.81% said the election was not very fair and 18.44% said it wasn't fair at all, while the others were uncertain or had no comment.
The opinion poll contrasted sharply with a Suan Dusit Poll issued the same day, which showed a majority of people were concerned with the way the election was conducted.
The Nida poll was conducted on March 25-26 on 1,182 people of various levels of education and occupations across the country who exercised their right to vote in the March 24 election.
A majority, 91.96% of the respondents, said they voted on March 24 while the rest, 8.04%, voted in advance on March 17.
