The Lakers aren’t making the playoffs. While they’re not yet mathematically eliminated, their chances of making the playoffs are bleak enough to wonder if going for it all is worth the hassle.
The folks at 538 had the most optimistic playoff odds for the Lakers after Saturday’s disappointing loss to the Phoenix Suns, giving L.A. a 7% chance of squeaking into the postseason. But after Monday’s 113-105 loss to the Clippers, they have a 1% chance of making it, according to the same projection system.
So I guess the biggest takeaway for Lakers fans is get used to seeing guys like Issac Bonga and start watching some college basketball to see which guys you want the Lakers to add, while keeping an eye on the free agent and trade markets.
But Lakers fans will know the drill by now, with this likely being the sixth straight season they’ve missed the postseason.
