'Most middle class drink ever' – Waitrose launches 'Avacado' cocktail

It is a common joke that where you choose to do your weekly food shop says a lot about you.

Whether its Tesco, Asda or Lidl, you know what to expect and the 'classic' items which are sold there.

And it's no different for arguably England's poshest supermarket Waitrose, which seems to enjoy making a parodoy of itself and its middle class clientele.

The upmarket store has earned a bit of a reputation for its avocado-themed goods and has now taken it a step further.

Over Easter, they published a recipe for their avocado-loving middleclass customers: A Mint Chocolate Avocado Cocktail.

This drink goes well with their vegan-friendly baby avocado Easter eggs made from jelly.

The best thing about the avocado cocktail is it doesn’t include avocado, just green food dye.

The other ingredients include white chocolate, double cream, white rum and peppermint natural extract.

To make it look even more like an avocado, Waitrose advises you to garnish it with a “giant” chocolate button, to imitate the pit.

Facebook users have a lot to say about this newest Waitrose invention.

Kate Sambrook said: “This is the most middle class drink I’ve yet laid eyes upon.”

Linda Klein misses the avocado: “It might actually be improved by the addition of avocado. A chocolate and mint cocktail sounds disgusting to me.”

Simon Murray tries a pun: “I’d avo one of those."
