Wouldn’t choux believe it- a bakery in Manchester city centre is putting their own twist on the classic French pastry the éclair, and it makes them some of the most Instagrammable around.
Choo Choo bakery might be new on the food scene in town but since it opened last year on Deansgate, it’s quickly gained popularity, even opening a second stall at Escape to Freight Island in 2021.
Each éclair is made with sweet choux dough filled with cream and topped with icing, using an array of interesting flavour combinations and colours, with Instagram-worthy results.
For the traditionalists, there’s the classic éclair with dark chocolate on top but for those who are looking to mix it up, you can choose from Biscoff, Lemon Meringue and Salted Caramel Espresso Éclair.
For the truly adventurous, there’s even a Rum and Pineapple flavour, all served from their brightly coloured stall front.
They have weekend specials, such as cherry chocolate gateaux buns and sweet profiteroles, with a revolving menu using seasonal flavours.
To wash it down, the bakery also offers coffee from Manchester roasters Heart & Craft, as well as indulgent hot chocolates and other hot drinks, for you to sip while you get your sugar fix- perhaps you could even dunk your éclair!
Their Instagram account often posts some very aesthetically pleasing shots of their produce, to the delight of followers.
On one post, an Instagram user commented: “Omg I was literally dreaming of these this afternoon after having one last weekend!”
Another said: “I've had one of these and can confirm they are AMAZING.”
A third added: “You’re killing me, these look insane. No word of a lie, I forgot all about my diet…”
