Most insiders expect the Bears to stay put at No. 1 and draft Caleb Williams

The Chicago Bears have an important decision to make with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

On the one hand, they could stick with Justin Fields and trade the top selection for an even bigger haul than last year. But, on the other hand, Chicago has a chance to land who many consider to be a generational talent at No. 1.

While Bears fans and players have made it clear they want Fields back in 2024, the belief around the NFL has been that Chicago will ultimately stay put.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, “most people” at the Senior Bowl believe the Bears will stay at No. 1 and draft Caleb Williams.

Most people I talked to in Mobile expect the Chicago Bears to make the pick at No. 1, presumably for Williams.

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune heard similar things. He spoke to five general managers at the Senior Bowl, and all five expect the Bears to draft a quarterback with the No. 1 pick.

Williams is the projected top pick in the NFL draft, and many expect him to land with Chicago. But even if the Bears leaned toward a quarterback who’s not Williams, they could get a haul for moving back just one or two spots. Although, if Chicago is drafting a quarterback, it’s most likely going to be Williams.
