Most hated Christmas songs ranked - and it's bad news for Mariah Carey

It's never, ever too early to start the Christmas celebrations and we won't hear otherwise.

In fact, we even have science on our side after it was proven that watching festive films all year round is actually good for our health by reducing levels of stress and anxiety, as well as helping us live longer and happier lives.

Heart Radio has already launched its 'Extra Xmas' station playing nothing but Christmas songs 24/7, wasting no time with news and presenters, but simply back-to-back Christmas Anthems to provide the 'perfect soundtrack to your personal winter wonderland'.

After taking to the airwaves a full 54 days before Santa visits, there's going to a fair bit of repetition in the build up to the most wonderful time of the year.

As we begin to hear the same soundtracks everywhere we go, Brits have had their say on their most hated Christmas songs they'll be hoping to avoid.

Surprisingly, Mariah Carey's Christmas classic 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' topped the poll to take the unfortunate crown of being the most annoying.

The top three was made up of runner-up 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' from Band Aid and Wizzard's 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday' in the poll of 2,000 people in a survey conducted by HUAWEI to celebrate the launch of their new FreeBuds 3 headphones.

Top 10 most hated Christmas song:

  1. All I Want for Christmas is You - Mariah Carey
  2. Do They Know It's Christmas? - Band Aid
  3. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday - Wizzard
  4. Merry Xmas Everybody - Slade
  5. Last Christmas - Wham!
  6. Fairytale of New York - The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl
  7. Baby It's Cold Outside - Tom Jones & Cerys Matthews
  8. Santa Claus is Coming to Town - Jackson 5
  9. Santa Baby - Eartha Kitt
  10. Jingle Bells - Andrews Sisters

If the list looks more like a perfect winter soundtrack to you, B&M has released a doormat sensor which will play Christmas songs every time someone visits your grotto.

You'll be treated to club classics including 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' and 'Jingle Bells' every time someone comes to your door - and the best bit is it's only £4.99.
