'Most definitely': Jake Paul drops boxing retirement hint after devastating Anthony Joshua defeat

Jake Paul has revealed that he has doubts over whether he will fight again following his knockout defeat by Anthony Joshua.

Paul, the Youtuber-turned-boxer, fought the former heavyweight champion in December last year at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

He was stopped after a vicious flurry of punches from the Briton, with one particular hook breaking Paul’s jaw as the American slumped to the canvas against the ropes.

It was Paul’s second defeat of his professional fighting career, having also suffered his first loss to Tommy Fury in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, back in 2023.

Now, speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Paul revealed that he was awaiting an update on how his jaw was healing.

"I'm getting some new scans in a couple of days, of the jaw, to get an update on the healing process. We'll see what the doctors say," he said.

"I think I'll be able to get a more accurate timeframe, or can I even fight again? That is definitely in the realm of possibility.

"It does feel a lot better as weeks go by, but I definitely need to get cleared to be able to spar. I'm staying in shape and enjoying some mitt work. I'm always in the gym regardless.

"Most definitely [my future is in doubt]. I think it just depends on how the bone heals, and then also there's a tooth missing - I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to get an implant of some sort.

"I don't know how much time that's going to add to things. But we just have to see and figure out what the smartest thing is for me."

Paul broke his jaw in two places against Joshua, and was forced to have teeth removed in the procedure afterwards.

Paul, 29, had broken into the WBA rankings in the cruiserweight division after a run of six straight victories.

The American moved up to heavyweight to take on Joshua in the unlikeliest of contests, but his co-promoter at Most Valuable Promotions Nakisa Badarian has revealed that Paul will look to move back to his more natural weight.

It remains to be seen who Paul will turn to next should he fight again, with rumours swirling that he could look to avenge his defeat by Fury, who also beat Paul’s fellow YouTuber KSI in October 2023.
