Most complained about TV outfits - Holly Willoughby's cleavage to Amanda Holden's navel

When Dancing On Ice launched on Sunday night, it wasn't just Jamie Vardy's apparent lack of enthusiasm for wife Rebekah's debut that had everyone talking.

All eyes were on Holly Willoughby 's plunging dress, with outraged viewers quick to brand the cleavage-baring Dany Atrache frock 'totally inappropriate' for a family show.

Twitter wad flooded with cross words about the pretty princess gown, with some even going so far as to complain to broadcasting regulator Ofcom.

But it's not the first time a risqué outfit has caused a stir on national television.

Here are some of the sauciest moments to have sparked cries of indecency...

Amanda Holden - Britain's Got Talent, 2017

Back in 2017, Amanda Holden was callously compared to a 'stripper' after dazzling in a plunging sheer black gown at the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals.

Ofcom received 683 complaints - making it one of the most complained about moments of the year.

But despite the moral panic, the regulator ruled that it would not be taking the matter further, explaining that her dress, “would not have exceeded most viewers’ expectations."

Viewers’ complaints on Twitter included “So Amanda is effectively topless on Britain’s Got Talent”.... “What the hell is Amanda wearing on BGT, totally NOT suitable” and “Half term hols with kids watching - sort yourself out Amanda Holden - not good!”

Ofcom said that the outfits had the “potential” to cause offence on a family show but that the ITV programme was “appropriately scheduled”.

Nicole Scherzinger - X Factor, 2019

Some 400 viewers reached out to Ofcom in a state of fury after Pussycat Doll Nicole strutted her stuff in a Cher-style transparent body suit.

Showing off her killer body in the sheer ensemble, Nicole, 42, worked the stage in a black bra and barely-there PVC knickers as she reunited with the girl band.

But the masses were not happy with one frantic mother tweeting: "I had to cover the eyes of my 6 year old daughter when they appeared with these horrendous and provocative dresses on the screen. Shame on you pussy cat dolls [sic]."

Another questioned: "What’s happening on ITV, have I switched on an xrated channel?"

Nicole hit back, telling the Herald Sun it had never been their intention to 'upset anybody'.

"Our true fans know our intention. Our real fans know we’re empowering and we come from a place of strength as singers and dancers," she said.

Holly Willoughby - The Voice, 2013

The revealing dress Holly Willoughby wore to present The Voice final on Saturday night has sparked 139 complaints.

And BBC bosses were forced to apologise if viewers found the cleavage-flashing number “unsuitable”, although they stood by the star.

The show, viewed by 8.7million fans, was broadcast from 7.15pm to 9.30pm on Saturday, meaning most of the programme aired prior to the 9pm watershed.

During that time broadcasters should avoid material deemed unsuitable for children.

A BBC spokeswoman said: “We’re sorry if some viewers found Holly’s dress to be unsuitable.

“Holly enjoys fashion and we felt the dress she wore for the live final of The Voice UK was glamorous and wholly appropriate for the occasion.

“We don’t believe it would have gone against audience expectations for a TV spectacle such as this.”

Rihanna and Christina Aguilera - The X Factor, 2010

The X Factor copped it over the 2010 final, when Rihanna and Christina Aguilera both delivered very raunchy performances.

Ofcom received almost 3,000 complaints about the incident, and the watchdog later agreed that their antics had been “at the limit” of acceptability.

Around 14 million viewers tuned in to watch Rihanna perform What's My Name and Christina perform two tracks from the film Burlesque.

Jennifer Lopez - Britain's Got Talent, 2013

J.Lo's bum-baring outfit and crotch-flashing knee slides across the stage attracted 100 complaints from offended fans.

But Jennifer, 51, hit back, stating that show bosses told her to wear the raunchy body suit.

"I think people are so much raunchier than I am. I feel like I’m so tame. We wore it at Billboard and Britain’s Got Talent said they wanted exactly the same. So I thought I’d wear the outfit in black," she told the BBC.

"No one complained at Billboard. I think people just like to talk. It was a body suit. A lot of performers wear that these days. It is standard stage clothes. I’m not going to walk down the street like that!"

But while some were left stewing in their rage, judge Amanda Holden enjoyed every second of it.

Asked if there had been any surprises on the night, she said: "Well, J-Lo's a*se - I just wanted to bite it."
