Mosque booked over noise norms in Mumbai

MUMBAI: The Mumbai Police on Friday registered a case against a mosque in Vikhroli (West) for allegedly violating noise pollution control norms by using loudspeakers to recite the morning namaz.

Parksite police said that they have booked the maulana of the Aksha mosque in Vikhroli (West) for reciting the prayers at around 5. 50 am which is a violation of the Supreme Court’s ban on use of loudspeakers and music systems in public places between 10 pm and 6 am.

Earlier, police had registered offences at Bandra, Santacruz and Ghatkopar for similar violation of SC guidelines. However, no arrests have been made so far in the case.
