Moses Moody could have a breakout year for the Warriors

Last season, Moses Moody slowly began making inroads in the Golden State Warriors rotation. The sophomore guard saw increases in games played, minutes played, and jumps in his box score numbers across the board. Entering his third season, Moody could be primed for a breakout year, assuming he continues to develop and fits into Steve Kerr‘s system.

In a recent article from Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley, Moody is listed as one of the most logical candidates for a breakout season. Golden State’s aging core will need some of the team’s younger players to provide an energy boost off the bench, and Moody is seen as an ideal candidate.

“He can energize this group with his shot-making and defensive activity, and he has done a better job of cleaning up—and speeding up—his decision-making,” Buckley wrote. “His lowest turnover percentage to date was the 4.0 mark he posted in the 2023 playoffs, per Basketball-Reference. If the Warriors have more trust in him, his role could grow substantially. They need more youthful energy and athleticism in their backcourt group, and he has the best chance to scratch those itches.”

Moody, 21, is still in the infancy of his career. The Arkansas native has already significantly improved his game and will continue to develop in the coming years. Of course, the more court time Moody sees, the quicker those developments will come to fruition.

Brandin Podziemski will also provide Moody with some fresh competition for minutes. The incoming rookie has impressed during his first two preseason appearances and could be a big factor in Moody’s playing time for the Warriors this season. Competition is always a good thing and could be the catalyst Moody needs to ensure a breakout season is on the cards.
