Mortified Kate Garraway realises she's the spitting image of Austin Powers

Kate Garraway as mortified on today's Good Morning Britain when she realised she was the spitting image of Austin Powers.

The Good Morning Britain presenter's outrageous outfit caused a stir on social media because of the resemblance to the Internal Man of Mystery.

When Kate asked to crack on with the news, co-host Ben Shephard revealed everyone on Twitter was "quite taken" with what she was wearing.

Horrified Kate cried "it literally is Austin Powers" when she was put next to a photo of the Mike Myers character in a split-screen.

Blaming the costume department, Kate said: "Did they watch it last night on the move channel and think 'I know what I'll put Kate in tomorrow morning'?"

Red-faced Kate put her head in her hands - but GMB viewers thought she was looking 'groovy baby'.

Charlotte Hawkins joked that they should get some big glasses for Kate, who admitted she already had the teeth.

Kate confessed: "Every day I think I’m not going to be the idiot of this show. I’m going to be the one who’s a proper grown up journalist."

She added: "It's 18 minute passed 6am and I’m Austin Powers on a bike."

Good Morning Britain viewers took to Twitter after seeing Kate's Austin Powers-themed outfit.

One fan said: "I love Kate! Never takes herself too seriously!"

"Kate living dangerously... Fabulous, "added another.

A third said: "Love Kate more of her please x"

"You look good better than Austin powers the red and white really suit you, "said a fourth.

Ben had a good laugh at his co-host (ITV)

This came after Kate cycled round the studio on a bike in her high heels ahead of a charity race.

The presenter had a big problem when she stopped as she couldn't get off the bike.

"You can't unsee any of this," said Laura, while Ben claimed watching his co-host was a show in itself.

Kate, who had not been on a bike since she was 14, told the other presenters to "carry on with the show".
