Morrisons urgently recalls bakery product after allergy concern to shoppers

Supermarket Morrisons have issued a recall for a popular bakery item due to allergy concerns.

The product contains mail, but the packaging does not emphasise it in bold, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance.

The superstore has contacted allergy support organisations to inform their members about the recall. A point-of-sale notice to its customers has also been given out, explaining to people why the products are being recalled.

The notice asks customers to not eat the product and return the pack of cakes to their nearest Morrisons for full refund, no receipt needed.

Morrisons also states that no other products are affected by the same issue.

Earlier this month, Greggs also announced a recall of their products after fears they might contain glass.

They said the recall only applied to a selected supply of the vegetable bake range, sold in Iceland.

Morrisons have recently felt the backlash from customers as they introduced a new loyalty scheme that is based around an online app, "My Morrisons".

The move means that the current points have been communicated in pounds and is now a "home for all" for all of the store's online services.

Customers have until August to redeem unclaimed “Morrisons more Fivers” with 56 weeks to use the vouchers in store.
