Morrisons updates customers on new queuing system

Morrisons has outlined its queuing protocols for customers.

The supermarket posted on its social channels to remind shoppers who are only popping in for a few essentials to use the Speedy Shopping Lanes.

Morrisons implemented the lanes across all stores recently and means those using a basket won't have to queue for too long.

The supermarket chain has now started letting three people using baskets into a store for every one person using a trolley for a big shop.

There's also dedicated Speedy Shopper checkouts, with more "card only" self-scan tills becoming available.

Morrisons has also explained what it will do for customers queuing in the rain.

The supermarket said today: "No one likes to queue in the rain. We'll be handing out umbrellas for customers queuing outside our stores.

"And remember, if you're just popping in for a few essentials, you can use our Speedy Shopping Lanes."

It comes after Tesco revealed it would encourage shoppers to wait in their cars during bad weather.

A statement on the company's website reads: "If it's raining or particularly cold, we may ask you to stay in your car to queue – we'll let you know when you can come in."
