Morrisons unveils Queen's Platinum Jubilee range including coronation Scotch eggs and Corgi cake
Morrisons has unveiled a special range of savoury and sweet treats for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee - including coronation Scotch eggs and a 'Queen lamb' kebab. For those with a sweet tooth, there will be a 'Clarence the Corgi' cake and a white chocolate & strawberry pizza.
Savoury offerings will see a focus on coronation chicken, which was created to celebrate the Queen's coronation. Morrisons says: "Created to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, it wouldn’t be right to celebrate her 70 years on the throne without a hint of the classic coronation chicken.
"From deli products, prepared on Morrisons Market Street, to sandwiches and BBQ meats – everyone will be able to enjoy this cult classic over the long weekend. Other products in the Coronation range include sausage rolls and houmous."
There will also be an £8 Coronation Chicken & Pork Slicing Pie, 'Queen Lamb Kebab' with Coronation dressing and Coronation chicken baguettes.
Morrisons says the sweet treats in the range are "fit for a queen", with everything from ready-made cupcakes to DIY baking kits to get in the jubilee spirit. The £6 Clarence the Corgi cake is described as "an adorable chocolate-covered Swiss roll made for sharing. Clarence is topped with red, white and blue sprinkles and has an edible face, paws and Union Jack crown."
A white chocolate and strawberry pizza on a 10-inch base is £3.20 while other sweet offerings include the 'Elizabeth Sponge and a platter of nine vanilla flavoured sponge cakes topped with white and blue coloured vanilla flavour frosting, sugar sprinkles and Union Jacks.
