Morrisons unveils plan to get food to people without needing a delivery slot

Morrisons has introduced a new plan to get people enough food to feed their families for five days delivered where you don't have to track down an available delivery slot.

The supermarket has taken action as millions of people across the country move back into lockdown and demand for deliveries rises.

To get around the need for in-store pickers and delivery divers dropping off shopping to order, Morrisons has massively extended its food box service.

By opening a dedicated factory in Wakefield, it can prepare more options for people to pick from and even reduce prices - offering people signing up 20% off their first box and 5% off regular orders - then send the boxes out using a third party delivery service.

With coronavirus case rates rising and new restrictions being introduced, Morrisons said demand for food boxes has increased 56% in the past week.

Morrisons' Aidan Buckley said: “Customers use our food box service to get fresh food and cupboard essentials delivered to their doorstep quickly.

"We are making the service simpler and even better value to ensure everyone can get access to affordable food at this difficult time.”

Morrisons is also letting customers sign up for weekly, fortnightly or monthly food box deliveries of essentials - letting them get a 5% discount on regular orders.

And to encourage people to sign up, Morrisons is offering 20% off your first food box with the code BOX154864P.

The extended range of food boxes now includes the Feed a Family Recipe Box that contains five meals to feed a family of four for £30 - which works out at £1.50 a portion.

There's also a Cupboard Essentials box for £22 including long life milk, soup, rice, pasta, tuna, beans, custard creams, wine gums and a 4 pack of toilet roll.

Customers can also pick up regular deliveries of booze with beers, wines and gin boxes, or even flowers as treats or gifts for others.

Morrisons food box range also includes:

  • Essentials Boxes for meat-eaters
  • Essentials Boxes for vegetarians
  • Essentials Boxes for vegans
  • Fruit boxes
  • Meat boxes
  • Fish boxes
  • Gluten Free boxes
  • Lean Meat boxes

All boxes are ordered online and delivered to customers doors the next day by DPD.
