Morrisons turns cafes into supermarket takeaway offering fish and chips for £5

Morrisons has announced it will offer a new takeaway menu from 402 supermarket cafes from June 19.

The new supermarket takeaways will offer meals for the whole family, including breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner options from just £1.95.

What's more two portions of fish and chips with peas, bread and butter will cost just £10, which is just £5 each.

All items on the menu are prepared by hand in Morrisons Cafés and packaged in new cardboard takeaway boxes.

For the opening, customers can also get their hands on a much-loved bacon or sausage sandwich plus a hot drink for just £1.95; or can even treat themselves to afternoon tea for two for just £10 – or £15 with the addition of Prosecco.

Head of Café Operations at Morrisons, Marianne Jones, said: "Our customers love our cafes. Some dine with us a number of times a week and many have told us they've been waiting for their return.

"So we've been working behind the scenes to bring back some of our most popular dishes at great prices as we continue to feed the nation."

Due to essential social distancing measures in the Cafés, customers can order their takeaway by calling Morrisons national takeaway hotline number 0330 808 9733.

Customers will be asked to give their postcode, select their local store, and will then be transferred to their store’s Café team who will take their order. Alternatively customers can visit the Cafe when in store to place their order.

All meals will be ready for collection half an hour after the order is placed. Deliveroo is also available in some locations.

Morrisons closed its customer cafes in March as a result of coronavirus. They are yet to fully reopen to the public.
