Morrisons to give all NHS workers discount on their shopping starting this week

Supermarket Morrisons has announced it will be offering discount to all NHS heroes starting this week.

The retailer confirmed from Thursday, April 16, those working for the NHS will be able to get 10% off their shopping.

Morrisons has launched the discount as a way of saying thank you to those working on the frontline during the coronavirus crisis.

The discount will be available for 12 weeks until July 12 when it will be reviewed. To get the discount, NHS workers need to present ID at its tills.

David Potts, Morrisons chief executive said: “This discount is our thank you to all those working in the National Health Service at this very difficult time.

"We are giving them our full support and gratitude as they continue to care for and support the nation during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The news of the 10% off comes after Morrisons also announced it was extending its opening times in a bid to reduce the need of queuing outside its stores.

Branches will open at 7am Monday to Saturday - and will close at 8pm.

On Sundays, stores will open at 9:30am and close at 4pm, reports MirrorOnline.

Morrisons' hours will be extended further for NHS workers who continue to have priority access to all stores from 6am to 7am Monday to Saturday.

The first 30 minutes of trading every Sunday will also be dedicated to frontline healthcare workers.
