Morrisons to extend opening hours from today to shorten queues

Morrisons across the UK are set to stay open for longer to avoid long queues outside stores.

The supermarket giant will remain open until 10pm on weekdays and Saturdays.

From today, Scottish stores will open from 8am - 8pm on Sunday.

Morrisons made the decision to extend their hours sue to improving stock levels across stores.

The supermarket previously had to limit the items shoppers could buy, but those restriction shave now been lifted.

Morrisons is still to hold a priority hour for NHS worker which will be 6am - 7am on Monday to Saturday and 7am - 8am on Sunday.

"As the evenings get lighter and the stock levels on our shelves has improved, to ease congestion and make it easier to shop, from next week we will open our stores for longer," Morrisons said in a update on  Facebook.

"From Monday 20th April, the majority of our stores will be open from 7am - 10pm on Monday to Saturday, and 9.30am - 4pm on Sunday.

"Scottish stores are open 8am - 8pm on Sunday. For NHS workers, we will continue to have dedicated shopping times and these will be 6am - 7am on Monday to Saturday and 9am - 9.30am on Sunday. In Scottish stores, it will be 7am - 8am on Sunday."

However, things aren't entirely back to normal yet, with Morrisons asking shoppers to keep a two-metre distance in store.

Stores will continue to operate a one in, one out, policy to make ease crowds.
