Supermarkets including Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's have recalled a variety of food products due to each containing salmonella.
Items such as pizza dough and puff pastry - dated January 2022 - contain the bacteria and are now considered as a health hazard with BakeAway recalling several raw pastry products according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
Customers are being asked to return the product for a full refund and in some cases, a receipt is not required due to the urgent hazard.
According to the NHS, symptoms of food poisoning include:
- Feeling sick (nausea)
- Diarrhoea
- Being sick (vomiting)
- Stomach cramps
- A high temperature of 38C or above
- Feeling generally unwell – such as feeling tired or having aches and chills
The symptoms usually start within a few days of eating the food that caused the infection. However in some cases they start after a few hours or a few weeks.
