Morrisons store cordoned off after overnight police incident

A convenience store has been cordoned off by police after a police incident overnight.

Derbyshire Police were called to Morrisons Daily, in Tamworth Road, Sawley, close to Long Eaton train station, at around 2.30am on Thursday, August 12.

A cordon has been set up by the store, which was closed as of 6.30am on Thursday, with one police car at the scene, Derbyshire Live reports.

Damage appears to have been done to the front of the shop, with a window being smashed.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police has confirmed no one has been injured, but said more details on the nature of the incident will be released later today.

Speaking at around 7.15am on Thursday, August 12, a police spokesman said: "There was an incident overnight at Morrisons Daily and we've currently got a scene on at the location.

"We got the call at 2.32am. No one has been injured."

More details about the nature of the incident are likely to be released by the police press office in due course.

The Morrisons press office has also been approached for comment.
