Morrisons shoppers urged not to shop until half an hour before closing

People who shop at Morrisons have been advised not to enter the supermarket until half an hour before closing. If you visit any earlier, you could end up spending more than you need to.

With bills quickly increasing, people are looking for new ways to save as much money as possible. Now one Tik Tok user has shared a brilliant tip - and it's easy to do.

Heidi Ondrak, known as the Duchess of thrift on social media, shared her top tips for bagging “ bargain bucket” food with her followers. The 51-year-old project manager from Plymouth, Devon, has revealed how she stocks up on lunches and baked goods for just pennies at Morrisons. The mum has over 30 years of experience as an extreme bargain hunter.

In the video, shared to her TikTok channel @Duchessofthrift, Heidi describes how she visits Morrisons just 30 minutes before closing time, heading straight for the bakery and hot food counters. She said: “At the end of the day Morrison's do the best discounts. So if you've got one that's got the hot food counter or you've got one with the bakery, they knock everything down to Bargain Bucket price.”

Heidi believes Morrisons is the supermarket with the best last minute reductions on food. She added: “Make sure you go to Morrison's about half an hour before they close.” Showing her latest haul from Morrisons the bargain hunter tells her followers: “I've just picked up £12.19’s worth of food for £2.15 So that's a saving of £10.04.”

Heidi's haul from Morrisons, totalling £2.15, included a loaf of tiger bread, usually £1.15, for 23p. She also got two packs of Sweet Chilli Chicken wraps, usually £2.75 each, a pack of coronation chicken rolls, usually £2, a pack of granola cookies, usually around £1.85, and a pack of scones, usually a pound odd, says the ECHO.

Although Heidi usually shares thrifting hacks, as her content focuses on looking good for less, the TikToker begun to share cost of living hacks when she saw others struggling to get by. She said: “I am lucky me and my partner work full time but our disposable income is shrinking so fast. I put together the TikTok because I do these [money saving] things and thought that all the small changes add up and it might help other people.”

She added: “I'm not an expert, but I just think of ways to try and close the gap between rising and a salary that hasn't risen to match the outgoings.”

Heid has also urged others to prepare for the winter fuel rises ahead by purchasing electric blankets at bargain prices now, during a heatwave. She’s also switched to using a George Foreman grill and air fryer in place of her oven and stove, claiming they are much cheaper to run.
