An act of kindness went a long way when a shopper was offered a lift home after finding themselves stranded by the bus strikes.
Earlier that day, they had been to a pub karaoke before heading to the local supermarket to do their weekly shop. But when they left Widnes Morrisons with five shopping bags in hand, they found they had no way to get home.
They said: “I was expecting to get a taxi home outside, as the Arriva buses were on strike and the Warrington buses had finished. I started walking home and stopped at each bus stop to see if a taxi telephone number had been left there that I could ring."

Unable to find a number the person feared they would have to walk all the way home, until a kind stranger stopped and offered them a lift. The shopper said: “I had to decide if he was a Good Samaritan or a mass murderer as I had never seen him before.”
However, they chose to look for the good in people and “accepted his lift.” The kind driver went out of his way to take the shopper home, and once they and their shopping were safely back, the driver went on his way.
The shopper said: “I thank him for being a Good Samaritan. He could have driven past like everybody else had done, but he did not.”
