Morrisons security guard goes viral after saving shopper's dog from the rain

If you were brave enough to hit the shops over the weekend, you're likely to have risked having to queue outside in the rain.

But us humans aren't the only ones to have braved the elements, as one Morrisons' shopper's dog found out, when it was left outside while its owner picked up some groceries.

But the Golden Retriever, who was pictured outside Morrisons in Giffnock, in Scotland, on Sunday morning, quickly became a viral sensation, after the supermarket's security guard stepped in with an umbrella to keep the pooch dry.

The heartwarming moment was captured by Twitter user Mel Gracie, who shared it online for all to see.

Captioning the tweet, the social media user wrote: "Shout out to this @Morrisons security man keeping this good boy dry.

"He said ‘well you never know how dogs feel about the rain.'"

The post has since received over 80,000 likes and 11,000 retweets, and people have been praising the security guard online for his act of kindness - with some even calling for him to get a pay rise - according to the Daily Record.

One person replied: "That is amazing. The fella was like ‘I don’t mind the rain.. but the dog might not fancy it’"

Another added: "Some heroes wear hi-viz jackets."

Someone else gushed: "Just beautiful.. this man deserves a pay rise."

"This is what I needed to see today. Give that man a raise!!" said somebody elese.

"That man deserves an actual medal. The person who went in the shop left their own dog in the rain.. good on him he’s an angel from above," another said.

Morrisons replied to the tweet, writing: "Adorable!"

Now that's what you call good customer service.
