Morrisons online shopping problems sees website crash as shoppers try to secure delivery slots

Supermarket giant Morrisons is asking customers to ‘try again later’ to access its website after huge numbers have caused its website to crash.

The retailer’s latest incentive - its £35 food box - is in high demand after shoppers used it as a ‘loophole’ to secure an online delivery slot even if usual times were full.

The £35 food box (which comes either suitable for meat eaters for vegetarians) promises to include essential items which the retailer puts together for customers.

However since they were released last night, demand has soared particularly after the latest Government announcement in which the Prime Minister placed the country on lockdown.

All ‘non essential’ shops were ordered to close.

A message on Morrisons’ website now reads: “Please note we're experiencing extremely high volumes. Click here to return to the homepage.

“If you're still having problems, please try again later. You may find it easier to access the website outside of peak times.

“If you have a query about your order please visit our help hub

“Thank you for your patience and ongoing support as we work through this busy time. We promise to do our very best to work together, to support our customers and each other as we face into this challenge.”

As supermarkets are classed as essential shops, they will remain open during this initial three week lockdown - you can find full up to date closing times for each store here.
