Morrisons supermarkets in Edinburgh will offer all NHS staff 10 per cent off the cost of their shopping.
All stores will be giving healthcare staff discounts on their shopping from Thursday onwards as a show of gratitude – and the offer will remain in place until July.
All workers need to do to benefit from the offer is display a valid ID card when they arrive at the checkout with their essentials.
Chief executive David Potts said that those at the supermarket will continue giving workers their "full support" as they battle the deadly Covid-19 outbreak.
He said: "This discount is our thank you to all those working in the National Health Service at this very difficult time. We are giving them our full support and gratitude as they continue to care for and support the nation during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
The offer will be valid in all Morrisons supermarkets, and is the latest in a number of measures introduced in stores to help support NHS staff.
They also hold an NHS Shopping Hour betweem 6am and 7am each day, and 9-9.30am on Sundays.
