Morrisons new essential meat box contains more than 38 meals for £45

Morrisons has announced it is releasing two brand new food boxes which will be filled with essentials.

The release of the 'Morrisons Market Kitchen Meal Box' and the 'Morrisons British Meat Box' follows the success of its initial £30 essential food box which was so in demand its website crashed as a result.

Two weeks ago, Morrisons started producing 10,000 Food Boxes to be sent for next day delivery to customers’ homes.

By next week the number will have increased to more than 100,000 per week as Morrisons has started production at three new sites.

This time its stand out box looks set to be its Meat Box. While exact products included may vary slightly, Morrisons claims it will feature enough meat to make more than 38 meals.

You can find full details of Morrisons' initial £30 food box here.

The boxes are delivered to customers' doors by DPD and are priced from £30. Morrisons is launching a further two new food boxes to feed the nation:

  • ‘Morrisons Market Kitchen Meal Box’ - is priced at £30 which includes delivery and provides eight ready meals that are hand-crafted by top chefs in a kitchen using 100% British meat and fresh ingredients. Customers can choose from the ‘Square Meals’ box which includes recipes such as deluxe Shepherd’s Pie or Cauliflower Mac Cheese or the ‘Meal Makers’ box where you can add your own sides to dishes like Chicken Tikka Masala or Kerala Vegetable Curry.
  • The Morrisons British ‘Meat’ Box - is filled with enough meat for over 38 meals and costs £45 including delivery. It contains a 5.7kg selection of fresh meat and includes; a gammon joint, a beef roasting Joint, a pack of chicken fillets, four Best Scotch beef burgers, 25 meatballs, 10 sausages, a pack of 12% fat beef mince, a pack of pork loin steaks, two sirloin steaks and a sachet of fresh peppercorn sauce.

Morrisons says the food boxes are particularly suitable for vulnerable customers and key workers working tirelessly in the fight against Coronavirus.

Morrisons has also started delivering them to local hospitals, care homes and sheltered accommodation for NHS and care workers.

David Potts, Morrisons chief executive, said: “These food boxes are a lifeline for many customers at this very difficult time and are providing essential food to people that either cannot leave their home or struggle to reach the supermarket.

"They are one of the ways we are playing our full part in feeding the nation.”
