Morrisons named as the UK's 'most complained about' supermarket

Morrisons has been revealed as the UK's 'most complained about' supermarket, according to a new analysis of reviews.

Online supermarket Britsuperstore recently conducted an analysis into Trustpilot review data of 10 major supermarkets across the country.

Reviews from January 1, 2022 were analysed, with Morrisons coming in with 97% negative reviews on the platform for their deals and savings.

It comes after the supermarket chain recently announced major price cuts across more than 400 grocery and household essentials to help shoppers keep costs down.

Retailers reported a 3.3% increase in food inflation during the month of March, which is set to rise further.

The Grocery Gazette has revealed that they were not the only supermarket to have negative reviews for their deals and savings. 52% of reviews on the platform reference money as shoppers continue to struggle with rising prices.

Closely following Morrisons in the most complained list is the Co-op, Asda and M&S with 96.67%, 96.21% and 96.15% negative reviews, respectively.

Sitting comfortably in the middle of the table are Lidl, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose with 91.18%, 88.57% and 87.95% negative reviews, respectively.

Popular budget supermarket Aldi managed to come out of the analysis with the least negative reviews from customers. With only 77.17%, the German grocer beat out Iceland and Tesco, who came in at 87.67% and 81.67%, respectively.

The analysis also found out that the most complained about financial issue was money. 19% of people complained about price increases and 15% complained about expensiveness.

Shoppers across the country have been grappling with rising costs on everything from food to energy bills. In a bid to help, many supermarkets have announced price cuts and promotions to help with their weekly grocery bills.

The news comes as Morrisons has saved convenience chain McColl’s in a last-minute triumph over EG Group, saving 16,000 jobs and stopping 1,100 stores across Britain from closing.

The Daily Record has approached Morrisons for comment.
