Morrisons launch gigantic Surf and Turf that includes a 900g Tomahawk steak

Just in case a 19-piece big daddy breakfast or £5 meat bundle wasn't enough, Morrisons have now truly taken the throne of supersized food offerings, by launching a 900g Surf and Turf.

Coming to stores nationwide especially for Father's Day, the huge Surf and Turf contains a giant Tomahawk Streak that weighs a whopping 900g (over 32oz), which is the equivalent of nearly four average rump steaks.

And just in case you still have some room left after, the colossal steak comes alongside two huge 25cm long Black Tiger prawns, which are more than eight times the size of a normal cold water prawn (around 3cm each) at 11g a piece, and 27 times the normal 4g weight.

And weirdly, despite containing almost 1kg of fancy food, the supermarket's massive meat and fish challenge is also not too badly priced, costing just £20 for the lot.

Launching in Morrisons stores today (13 June) the offer is only set to last until Sunday 16th June.

You can also pick up each product separately, with two giant Black Tiger prawns setting you back £5, while The Best Tomahawk is priced at £15.

But rather than pumped full of steriods, it seems the prawns come from much more idyllic settings, being sourced from the warm waters of the Mekong delta in Vietnam and fed on a natural plankton diet.

As for the meat, the British Best Tomahawk Steak is served on the bone, hand prepared by Morrisons butchers at its own food making sites, where the meat is matured for 21 days to maximise richness and flavour.

Morrisons is introducing the £20 deal following the success of the Father’s Day Tomahawk in 2018 which saw the supermarket sell over 10,000 steaks over one weekend.

Jodie Bolland, Senior Meat Buyer at Morrisons says: “The giant surf and turf is our meatiest challenge yet for Dads on Father's Day. We hope they enjoy it this weekend – whether they’re attempting it solo or enjoying it as a family meal.”

Customers who aren’t up for the challenge, can ask Morrisons butchers to cut a slightly smaller steak – such as a fillet, rump, ribeye or sirloin.

The supermarket has 2,000 professional instore butchers who can bone, trim, seam and prepare steaks, plus advise on recipes, cooking and wine pairing. All of the supermarket’s beef is sourced directly from British farmers.
