Morrisons is slashing petrol prices by 5p a litre for customers - but there's a catch

Morrisons is once again slashing the price of petrol by 5p a litre, but drivers will need to a food shop at the supermarket before getting the discount.

To get money off your petrol, you will need to get yourself a specific voucher from Morrisons, which would require you to spend at least £35 in store or online.

Once you have done your £35 shop, you will then receive the voucher that you can redeem at Morrison's forecourt.

If you pay in store, you'll be given the coupon immediately, but if you've ordered online, it'll be emailed to you within three to five days of the order.

You will also have to be quick to claim your discount as the offer is only available from Thursday May 11 until Sunday May 21.

You will have until May 29 to spend your petrol voucher.

This is the fourth time Morrisons has offered this petrol deal since the start of the year.

Morrisons is offering the discount at all 340 of its forecourts in the UK - although you cannot spend your voucher at a franchised Morrisons petrol station.

The exact amount that Morrisons charges for its fuel will vary by location so do check yours before you fill up.

You can find your nearest filling station by using the locator tool on its website.

You should also be aware that certain items are not included in your £35 shop.

These items include fuel, tobacco, lottery products, Morrisons Café, gift vouchers and cards, infant/formula milk, cash back, dry cleaning, fireworks, online games and instant tickets, photo printing, saver stamps, postage stamps, mobile phone top ups, delivery charges/pass, garden centre, and pharmacy.

If you are making one of these purchases in-store, you may need to pick up a few other items to reach the £35 total so you don’t miss out on the petrol voucher.

Rachel Eyre, chief customer and marketing officer at Morrisons, said: “We are continuing to prioritise helping our customers by lowering the cost of essential purchases like fuel.

"This is our fourth offer on fuel this year alongside numerous price cuts on food, demonstrating our long-term commitment to reducing our customers’ household bills.”
