Morrisons is now rationing some items as food shortage fears rise

Since Boris Johnson announced the new 10pm curfew rules and tightening of laws for people in the UK, many have feared a second full lockdown could be on its way.

As a result, shoppers in England have reported seeing shelves stripped bare of essentials like toilet roll and pasta - just as we saw back in March.

Now Morrisons has confirmed that it is rationing selected items, and has introduced buying limits on some of its most popular essentials, in a bid to make sure that everyone is able to get what they need.

A spokesperson told Metro: "We are introducing a limit on a small number of key products, such as toilet roll and disinfectant.

"Our stock levels of these products are good but we want to ensure that they are available for everyone."
