Morrisons is giving away 125,000 bags of free veg to help families this Christmas

Supermarket giant Morrisons has announced its plans to hand out bags of vegetables as it aims to help families during the build-up to Christmas.

Bags of carrots will be handed out from the entrances of Morrisons' 493 stores across the UK on Saturday, December 21.

The wonky carrots - which are oversized, misshapen and scarred, but still taste delicious - will be in bags labelled "Carrots for Rudolph".

Morrisons says it hopes the giveaway will help families this Christmas but also introduce them to wonky veg and encourage more shoppers to buy it.

Morrisons sells a whole range of wonky veg across its stores including everything from lemons and pears to potatoes and peppers.

Wonky veg is perfectly fine to eat and is just vegetables which have grown slightly odd, for examples carrots may be mis-shaped or have fangs which makes them difficult to sell.
