Morrisons in Hartcliffe reopens - this is everything that has changed

The Lord Mayor of Bristol officially reopened the Morrisons store in Hartcliffe today (March 28) following the first major refurbishment of the store since it opened.

It has been relaunched and boasts the very latest features of Morrisons brand - the kind of stuff not generally seen in other branches.

Store manager Paul Smith welcomed Lord Mayor Cllr Cleo Lake, and said he was loving the fresh look at the store, which now boasts a range of features not seen before.

The refit included a huge amount of work - mainly when the store was closed overnight - for the past 10 weeks.

The manager was the deputy boss when the store opened in 2007, so he said he is proud to be at the helm for the relaunch.

"We've given the store a whole new fresh look," he said.

"There'll be lots of things people haven't seen before, lots of changes in layout and new things, but also lots of things that customers might not notice have changed.

"The main changes have been in the non-food areas, so we have a whole new large non-food section with bedding and kitchenware and the full range of everything you might find at other, larger, Morrisons," he added.

The most striking addition which will instantly catch the eye of regular customers is the new 'Party Shop'.

"This is a big area in the store, and will be a one-stop shop for everything you need for a party - cakes, balloons, decorations, everything - it's quite new for Morrisons generally, and we are the first store in the region to have one, so people probably won't have seen one before," said Mr Smith.

"There have also been upgrades to all the deli counters, and changes and moves to improve the layout. So, for instance, the fishmongers area, which was near the entrance on the right, has now moved to be next to the butchers, and in that space, there is new Flower Shop, which people will notice.

"There's a much better feel to the shop," he added.

"The whole shop floor has been relaid and everything has moved around, so when you walk in, you might not notice lots of little changes that have improved things.

"It was a really quick turnaround, and to do all this in 10 weeks has been good," he added.
