Morrisons cut cost of fuel with 12p off a litre of petrol

Morrisons has announced a new fuel price reduction to help motorists save money.

The supermarket said the new lower price is the "largest reduction in recent times" as it reduces unleaded and diesel prices.

From today [March 23] Morrisons' new prices are 12p-a-litre off unleaded and 8p-a-litre off diesel.

Head of Fuel for Morrisons, Ashley Myers, said: "We are playing our full part in reducing the cost of living and feeding the nation.

"This reduction in fuel prices will help motorists to save money at this difficult time."

For a typical 50-litre fill up, motorist will save £6 on unleaded and £4 on diesel.

Morrisons has confirmed the new lower figure will remain at this price.

It comes after Morrisons changed their opening hours amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The supermarket will now be open 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday, while trading hours on Sunday will remain the same.

It has also introduced special opening hours for NHS staff only.

On social media, Morrisons wrote: "From Monday, we're introducing an NHS hour in all Morrisons stores from 7am to 8am, Monday to Saturday for NHS workers to shop with us. #itsmorethanourjob."
