Morrisons customers horrified after finding wriggling transparent worms inside fish

A husband and wife were disgusted after cutting open their supermarket-bought fish to find live worms wriggling around inside.

Timmy Remigio told Mirror Online he normally just throws the sprats into the frying pan as they are, but he left his wife to prepare the fish this time.

Moments later Timmy, 32, could hear his wife, Andrada screaming from the kitchen.

Timmy, who works as a healthcare assistant at Eastbourne Hospital, in East Sussex, said he rushed in to see the transparent worm crawling on his wife's finger.

He said: "It was disgusting, they were really wriggling around."

Timmy recorded a video of the cut up sprats and his seven-year-old daughter Natalia can be heard in the footage as the worms wriggle on the chopping board.

Andrada took the fish back to Morrisons, but said the store manager had no interest in looking at the fish, or their photos or video.

He did offer a refund and £10 gift voucher.

Timmy said it hasn't put him off, as he is an avid fish eater, but added that he will always follow his wife's lead and cut them up in future.

A Morrisons spokeswoman said: "Certain fishes may pick up parasites naturally from their ecosystem.

"Although we make every effort to screen these out during the skinning or packaging processes, they may be present on very rare occasions.

"Our store has given the customer a full refund to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
