Morrisons announces major change to its More card with points set to be axed

Morrisons has confirmed a major change to its Morrisons More card.

The supermarket's More card allows customers to accumulate points which are then turned into vouchers which can be spent in store, as well as giving shoppers access to personalised offers and more.

But the popular retailer has announced a change to the way the card operates, with the points system set to be axed.

From May 10, customers will receive offers in pounds rather than points, giving money off certain purchases as opposed to building up a points balance.

Morrisons shoppers will no longer need to wait for their vouchers to become available but will instead be able to use their More card to spend immediately.

Existing Morrisons More points are due to expire on August 9, 2021.

A Morrisons spokesperson told the ECHO : "We have been in touch with our Morrisons More customers this week to let them know about some exciting changes we have planned.

"From May 10, we will move from a points-based scheme to a money-off and instant rewards-based programme that will offer a host of new services to our customers such as personalised offers and the opportunity to give back to the community.

"A key feature of the new service is that all savings will be communicated in pounds and will be available to spend immediately so customers will no longer need to save up their points or wait for vouchers.

"We are getting in touch with our customers now so that they are aware of the changes and can redeem their existing More Points before they expire."

As an essential retailer, Morrisons stores remain open during lockdown with shoppers allowed to visit when needing to stock up on essential purchases such as food and medicine. Non-essential purchases can also be made during these visits.
