Morrison's milkshake five weeks out of date leaves bitter taste for man recovering from covid

A horrified shopper took a swig of a Morrisons milkshake before realising it was five weeks out of date.

Graham Sutherland bought the vanilla drink on his first day out of quarantine after coming down with covid.

The angry customer realised revealed he bought the offending item with his weekly shopping at the East Kilbride branch of the supermarket, Lanarkshire Live reports.

He knew instantly that something as soon as he took a drink, and returned it to the store.

Graham explained: "I bought a vanilla milk drink, which I took a drink out of in my car after I bought it but sensing a peculiar taste I looked at the sell by date which was stamped 21.5.21 - just over five weeks out of date.

"After bringing it to their attention they apologised and returned my £2.10, but no goodwill gesture.

"So I contacted Morrisons complaints department who apologised and said they would mention to staff and tighten up procedures.

"But that was it - I would understand if it was a few days out of date, but it was five weeks.

"I was weak from covid and it was my first day out. I am so angry."

He added: "I am just getting back on my feet after the virus and a product could be overlooked, I get that.

"But for five weeks, that's well out of order."

A spokeswoman for Morrisons said: "We apologise to Mr Sutherland and are fully investigating what happened here with the store."
