The Ministry of Health on Monday launched in Salé the second digital and integrated vaccination center at the national level, as part of the acceleration of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

The center, located in Bab Lamrissa district, will ensure the vaccination of 4,000 to 5,000 people per day through a digital process.

During the inauguration of the center, the Moroccan Ministry of Health stated that the center would facilitate access to vaccination services.

He explained that “the opening of this integrated vaccination center near the city of Rabat, will allow a certain number of citizens to benefit from the vaccine in safe and comfortable conditions.”

The opening comes as Morocco has launched a campaign targeting students of ages ranging between 12 and 17.

In this context, the government has decided to extend the state of emergency until October 31. It further decided to postpone the academic year from Sep. 3 to Sep. 10.

Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education, and Scientific Research Saaid Amzazi said the government decided to postpone the beginning of the academic year to ensure safe conditions for teachers and students as well.

Health Ministry officials reported 2,969 new confirmed coronavirus infections, bringing the total active cases to 71,378.

COVID-19 deaths in the country climbed by 97 within the past 24 hours, bringing the tally of fatalities to 11,889.

A total of 13.191 million were fully vaccinated, while 17.489 million received the first jab.
