The Moroccan authorities arrested a man known as Abou Naim after he published a video online making remarks that incite hatred and violence.

According to authorities, he made statements that "seriously threaten public order, denigrate and undermine the efforts of public authorities to deal with the new coronavirus.”

This came after Morocco announced closing all mosques throughout Morocco amid the mounting fears of the spread of COVID-19.

Abou Naim is now placed in custody until further notice.

The judicial police already kicked off an investigation over the video under the supervision of the public prosecution at the Rabat Court of Appeal in charge of terrorism and extremism cases to determine the criminal acts attributed Abu Naim.
