Moroccan held 'for lifting tourist's luxury watches'

Chon Buri: A Moroccan woman has been charged with theft after allegedly stealing items from a Kuwaiti tourist she met in a bar and later slept with.

Zrideg Rabia, 32, of Morocco, is accused of stealing three watches -- a Rolex, a 5.11 Tactical and an Audemars Piguet -- along with a carton of imported cigarettes, a bottle of perfume and other items worth more than 500,000 baht altogether, Pattaya police chief, Pol Col Apichai Krobphet, told reporters yesterday.

Kuwaiti national Talal Sabah Mohammad Alsabah, 22, was at Pattaya police station to identify her.

He filed a complaint on Wednesday, saying he met Ms Rabia at a beer bar in South Pattaya's Walking Street area. After chatting together he asked her to go back to his room with him, and she agreed.

After having sex, he said he dozed off. The woman left, taking his three watches and other items, he added.

Investigators later found her in the South Pattaya area.

Police said she confessed to theft and was being held in police custody.

The woman entered the country on a tourist visa and has no prior criminal record, police said.
