A shopkeeper who was working nearby has described the moment she heard a "bang" as a car crossed the pavement and hit a mum and her young child.

She told the Daily Record how she was left "terrified" in the aftermath of the incident, which took place at around 2:30pm.

The emergency services raced to the scene on Morningside Road following reports that the two pedestrians had been hit.

Samina told the newspaper: "I was working in the shop behind the counter and I just heard a noise, a bang.

"I came out and there were a lot of people all around and some were taking pictures.

"I didn't go too close because it was scary and I didn't want to see any injured people.

"My customer phoned an ambulance and I went back into the shop.
