The criminal trial of veteran broadcaster Alan Jones has begun almost two years after he was arrested over multiple counts of indecent assault and sexual touching – charges he strongly denies. What did week one reveal about the prosecution’s case, and the way Jones treated his alleged teenage victim? Ralph Carr once represented some of the biggest names in Australian pop music and sport. On Monday, with the lifting of a controversial suppression order, he was revealed as the man found guilty in a Melbourne court last month of raping a former staffer.
The woman Carr raped was a former employee at Ralph Carr Management. This morning we reveal allegations that Carr had been abusing his power at the company for decades, to bully, verbally assault and sexually harass the young women who worked for him.
In an exclusive investigation, close to 30 women who once worked for Carr come forward to detail behaviour they call “abusive”, “belittling” and “degrading”. “You’d be paralysed with fear,” one said. “You were completely powerless.”
