Palmer United?

Clive Palmer has labelled Jacqui Lambie a liar and said she was “planning to set up an alternate political party”; in return she has accused him of conducting “sly personal attacks” and declared she will “not be told how to vote”.

Lambie’s decision to vote against the PUP and the Coalition, along with a U-turn by Motoring Enthusiast party senator Ricky Muir, meant the Coalition’s changes to financial advice were defeated in the Senate last night.

Jerusalem synagogue attack

In Jerusalem, there are fears that the deadly synagogue attack that killed four rabbis and a Druze policeman could spark a descent into a religious war.

The attack prompted promises of a harsh response from Israeli prime minister Binjamin Netanyahu, who condemned it as a “cruel murder of Jews who came to pray” by two cousins who were shot dead themselves.

Israeli security forces destroyed the home of a Palestinian who last month ran over and killed two people at a Jerusalem tram stop, as Netanyahu vowed to speed up the demolition of the homes of the men who carried out the synagogue attack.
