Moritz Bauer in emotional Celtic farewell as he claims 'nothing compares' to Parkhead experience

Moritz Bauer has bid the Celtic fans an emotional farewell after his season-long loan deal came to an end.

The defender departed the club today (Tuesday) and returned to Stoke City.

The 28-year-old didn't quite manage to nail down a regular place in Neil Lennon's starting side, but that didn't stop him enjoying his time with the Scottish champions.

Posting on his Instagram account he described the Celtic experience as a "lifetime memory" while paying a special tribute to the club's supporters.

Bauer said: "I want to thank the whole @celticfc community! I learnt from great staff, played with incredible players and won my first league title.

"But nothing compares to playing at Celtic Park in front of all you supporters. What a lifetime memory!

"I wish you all the best for the upcoming season."

Bauer had been training with Neil Lennon's side in recent weeks but will now return to his parent club.

Despite some steady performances he fell down the pecking order, in part due to the emergence of Jeremie Frimpong at right back.
