Moritz Bauer delivers his Celtic Park verdict and pays tribute to the fans after making his home debut

Summer signing Moritz Bauer has paid tribute to Celtic fans after he enjoyed a successful home debut against Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Neil Lennon’s side came back from a goal down to beat the Ayrshire club 3-1 – a victory that kept the champions top of the table.

Bauer grabbed an assist when he coolly played in Odsonne Edouard for his and Celtic’s second goal.

And the Swiss – who joined on a season-long loan from Stoke City – loved every minute of his Celtic Park bow.

Bauer, 27, told the Celtic View: "It’s a great arena and very historic.

"It felt special to walk in there and it also felt like an honour. To walk into such a historic place is great.

Bauer has said the fans were like a 12th man (PA)

"The stadium looked full and the atmosphere created by the fans was like a 12th man.

"That makes a difference for us as players and I know I felt it myself.

"When we went 1-0 down it still felt positive and the fans in the stands were very supportive.

"I didn’t feel any negative energy and that helped us a lot. It showed that they trusted us and believed we would get the job done.

"The crowd was thinking the same as us. They knew the train was going in the right direction and it was just a matter of time until we scored.

"To score just before half time was great and then we continued to play well and scored another early in the second half."
