Moritz Bauer admits 'bitter' Celtic experience as defender's Jeremie Frimpong pain detailed

On-loan Moritz Bauer admits his Celtic spell turned 'bitter' for him after the club decided to give Jeremie Frimpong a chance at first team action.

And the right-back it was adamant it was the management's desire to blood the kid and NOT his form that was the problem.

The Austrian full back made just six league starts for Neil Lennon 's side this season and last started a Premiership game in January.

Stoke City stopper Bauer was forced to take a back seat because of the form of exciting 19-year-old Frimpong, who quickly established himself in the side.

Bauer, 28, is expected to return to the English Championship side next season where he still has three years left on his contract, but he insists he enjoyed his time in Glasgow, despite his lack of game time.

He said: "I don't want the season to end. It was an exciting experience for me at Celtic, even if it went bitterly for me.

"Losing my place wasn't down to my performances. I'm 28, only on loan from Stoke and relatively expensive.

"I understand what happened because Celtic are building the experience of a younger player.

"When the new season starts at Stoke, I now have the chance to get people talking again about me with my performances.

"I certainly dream of playing for Austria again."
